Mi Propio Color - My Own Color is an immersion into the world of the Cholitas, Bolivian women who, far from fixed stereotypes, reinvent themselves in multiple roles: wrestlers, mountaineers, politicians, models, and even skateboarders.
I traveled across the country alone, with my camera and a simple piece of fabric as a backdrop, to step into their daily lives and share a fragment of their strength, pride, and freedom.
This project is much more than a series of portraits. It is an intimate dialogue between them and me. Though our realities are not comparable, their struggle resonates within me and illuminates my own paths: seeking autonomy, learning self-acceptance, affirming identity. Photographing these women also meant photographing myself in a way, in the reflection of the mirror they held up to me.
This series stands as a testimony to their courage and their power, which transcend cultural boundaries. These images tell the story of both an intimate and collective movement: transforming struggle into freedom, and fragility into strength.
